For more than twenty-five years, Anna Durisch has worked in environments where decisions could not be understood through one discipline alone.
Her experience has included governance and international affairs, business and finance, political transitions, institutional change, leadership, conflict, peace process and reconciliation — settings where formal answers, competing interests and human realities often had to be understood together.
That experience shaped the way Durisch Advisory approaches consequential decisions: look beyond the apparent question, understand what deserves weight, and distinguish what is true on paper from what is likely to matter in reality.
Finance asks what the numbers depend on — and what happens if the expected case does not occur.
Business and feasibility ask whether the opportunity is real, whether the proposed route is the strongest one, and what has to be true for it to work.
Governance asks where authority actually sits, who can block or redirect an outcome, and what happens when interests begin to diverge.
Policy and international experience draw attention to institutions, jurisdiction, incentives and local realities that may change what happens in practice.
Leadership and mediation add another dimension: how interests, loyalties, trust, pressure and human relationships may affect what formal structures alone cannot explain.
Anna holds an MSc in Finance, with a major in Economic Policy, from the University of London.
Her work has included feasibility analysis, market research, business planning, opportunity assessment and international project development.
Anna has undertaken studies in International Law, Moral Foundations of Politics, Terrorism and Counterterrorism, and Business Ethics;
alongside extensive exposure to policy, governance, institutional development and international human rights work.
This experience has involved questions of authority, institutional capacity and competing interests.
More than two decades of institutional leadership, advisory work, mediation and exposure to politically sensitive environments have given Anna direct exposure to how power, trust, conflict and competing interests affect decisions in practice.
That experience has included situations involving political transition, institutional change, conflict and reconciliation.
Anna’s international experience has taken her through very different environments — from business and feasibility to education, institutional development, human rights, leadership, public policy and cross-border initiatives.
For more than two decades, she has been leading Helios Life Association, a Swiss non-profit organization with international work across Asia and other regions.
The organization has held consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council since 2011.
In Sri Lanka, apart from other engagements, Anna’s humanitarian work was connected with the development of the South Asian Centre for Teacher Development, later established as a UNESCO Category II Centre.
Her wider international experience has included work in Cambodia, Thailand, the Maldives, India, Vietnam, South Africa and other settings where ideas had to meet very different institutions, cultures and practical realities. It has also included engagement in Geneva and United Nations environments concerning human development, human rights, governance and public policy.
Other parts of that experience have necessarily remained less public.
They have included work around politically sensitive periods in Southeast Asia, leadership counsel, competing interests, mediation, political transition and environments shaped by conflict, peace process and reconciliation.
Those experiences reinforced something that now sits at the centre of Durisch Advisory:
Institutions matter.
Power matters.
History matters.
Trust matters.
The interest of the people involved matters.
Good judgment requires understanding how those forces interact.
Describe the decision you are considering and the context that makes it difficult.
Anna reviews each request personally. If the matter is suitable, the appropriate scope and fixed fee are confirmed in writing before engagement and payment.
